The English Town Library is a new concept. Our first town library opened in 2016  in the Cultuurhuis in Doorn / Utrechtse Heuvelrug and is managed by Mrs Pernille Poulsen. She is actively supported by The Little English Library organisation and the American Book Center in Amsterdam.

The Little English Town Library offers a free service and by now, Pernille supports around 6 local primary schools with SWAP 20 and various reading schemes. Local children can also borrow books from The Little English Town Library collection when they visit the Bibliotheek in the Cultuurhuis in Doorn.

In 2017, Pernille welcomed the first placement students from secondary bilingual education to The Little English Town Library. The two young students completed their ‘stage’ with Pernille and the American Book Center in Amsterdam. Great experience.

And in case you were wondering … a cupboard and lost of energy is all you need to get things started. A year later, Pernille now has a wonderful red shelving cupboard full of books and 3 additional shelving units in local schools.
