2nd open-access Little English School Library in Breda

Lovely morning setting up the new open-access Little English Library at the Montessori+ Prinsenbeek (previously Daltonschool Apollo) which is also home to Teacher of the Year Noortje van Hulst. Together with our little helpers, Miriam Oliveira, who will take care of this school library, and I filled the shelves with fabulous used books and new ones donated by Van Ditmar and The American Book Center. The school had also purchased the 1-2-3 packs which really offer a fantastic start when setting up an English School Library. This collection now offers great English books for children aged 0-12 years old and if you live locally and would like to join, get in touch over facebook https://www.facebook.com/thelittleenglishlibrary

New Little English School Library

Busy days getting ready to set up the second open-access Little English School Library in the Montessori+ in Prinsenbeek. Many books are already on-site and the 1-2-3 packs have arrived. Books are being labelled and I am trying out a simplified categorising system (theme & number)… fingers crossed. More photos next week.

Old Hat

Fabulous new book by Emily Gravett called ‘Old Hat’. A great book about celebrating who you are. Not always easy in this day and age especially if you are only little. My girls (6 & 8) kindly tried out the activities provided on Emily’s website www.emilygravett.com. Brilliant! Now this ‘Old Hat’ will be going on our next recommended picturebook-list for primary schools in NL!

Shhhh

In May this year, I spent a great hour this morning at a local Dutch primary school reading / acting Shh! We have a plan by Chris Haughton to a Year 3 & Year 4 class. The children were brilliant, they joined in calling out the words in English, tip-toeing and climbing … I can tell you, these 6-8 year olds had some great plans. Little Superstars.
