Every year, at the end January, the Nationale Voorleesdagen (Reading  Aloud Days) take place in the Netherlands. During this one week event, the picturebook of the year is presented. This year the chosen book is Sst! Tijger Slaapt by Britta Teckentrup, orginally published under the title Don’t wake up Tiger!

I hope that many Dutch primary schools will take the opportunity to not only join in but perhaps even read the English version. Have a look at the short video – my daughters had some fun with it at the weekend. Here is also a great balloon making activity (with turtle template) for primary teachers to complete with their class after reading the book.
