IPC & The Little English Library

TOYS Collage

As many of you already know, The Little English Library is based in a Dutch Primary School (Montessori + Breda) and this school runs the wonderful International Primary Curriculum, IPC.

A few weeks ago my daughter’s class started the “Speelgoed” Unit (Toys) and she is loving it. I remember looking at the IPC website some time ago and thinking wow, how clever, how creative. So, for this week, The Little English Library has got the same theme as my daughter’s class: TOYS…and she was very impressed when she came out off class today and passed by the library.

Paddington is sitting on his (her) little suitcase, Toy Story is out, Bob the Builder building blocks … hope the children have as much fun as I had creating this display. For more info on the IPC click here.

Pumpkin Book Characters: We made Norman. And what’s yours?

Next week,The Little English Library will be getting a Halloween make-over. I have nearly got everything ready and was just doing some so to speak ‘last-minute googeling’ when I came across schools and libraries organising Pumpkin Book Character activities. How fabulous! And as it was a miserable day here in the Netherlands today … oh yes! My girls and I went straight for the bookshelf and then it was paint, glitter & glue … And her is Pumpkin Norman. This was such good fun. If you make one, please send a photo to info@littlelibrary.nl

Sponsorship / Donations

StickerlogolelblueThe Little English Library is being actively supported by organisations such as the IWC Breda and Breda Expats Monkeys. So far over 500 books have been donated. With the current focus on English at Primary School level (in NL), we are delighted to see how this project is quickly gaining in interest. We are therefore looking at ways to swiftly increase our book collection before the opening in February. We are especially in need of books suitable for dyslexic children, children’s reference books and young teenage literature.

Please find details for the project attached (link)and if you can help  us to create an English children’s library that will amaze our children and get this young generation excited about books, reading and English, please contact  info@gruenbaumpublishing.com
