bndestemWell, what a morning it has been. Got up, cycled to school, dropped off girls and gave my first ever interview. A lovely journalist and a very creative photographer from the BNDeStem came to meet me in the library of the Montessori School.

campaign poster04.02.2014 – Today the Little English Library launches the My Book has Wings Campaign 2014: Send One Book from Your Bookshelf to the Netherlands

As many of you know, The Little English Library is housed in the Montessori School Breda and is due to open at the end of February 2014. To launch the library, we are entirely reliant on donations. We have had lots of lovely books but need even more to make The Little English Library the best it can be!

Please spread the word. Let’s work together and create a wonderful English children’s library. Thank you.

How does it work? 

1. Choose a book from your shelf, write your name, class
and contact details of your school on a slip of paper and
put it inside the book.

2. Pack it up and address it to:
The Little English Library / Montessori School Breda,
Jan Nieuwenhuyzenstraat 15
4818 RH Breda, NL

3. Jump on your bike or scooter and off to the post-office. This is where you give your book wings! As soon as your book lands with us, we will send your Thank You Certificate to your school.

First Date

monkeysAnd we have our first event. Rosalind’s Breda Monkeys’ Bumps & Babies Group is planning to host their first Rhyme-Time &  Coffee morning at the new English Little Library 20.03.2014  at 10 am. We look forward to welcoming all Breda Mums with bumps, babies & tiny monkeys.

There is parking around the back of the school, no stairs, easy pram access – the library is on the ground floor. Take  a left once you have walked through the main entrance and you are there. See you then. 

Breda Monkeys Newsletter Q1 2014

Breda Bumps,babies and monkeys is a community for pregnant mothers and families in the Breda area. 
We meet up every week or so at one of the members houses or at a child friendly location in the Brabant area. 
We have a mailing list where each month venues and dates are listed. Please email bredalittlemonkeys@gmail.com to join.

StickerlogolelblueThe Little English Library is being actively supported by organisations such as the IWC Breda and Breda Expats Monkeys. So far over 500 books have been donated. With the current focus on English at Primary School level (in NL), we are delighted to see how this project is quickly gaining in interest. We are therefore looking at ways to swiftly increase our book collection before the opening in February. We are especially in need of books suitable for dyslexic children, children’s reference books and young teenage literature.
